Logging in with the DigiD app from abroad

If you are currently living abroad or in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, find out how to log in with the DigiD app and what to do if it doesn’t work.

Attention: You have to activate the DigiD app before you can log in with it. Find out how to activate the DigiD app

How do I log in?

Choose whether to log in with the device on which the DigiD app is installed (e.g. your telephone) or with another device (e.g. your computer).

    If you’re logging in with a telephone or tablet on which the DigiD app is installed, do the following:

    1. Go to the website or the app of the organisation you want to log in to.
    2. Click ‘Log in with DigiD’.
    3. Click 'With the DigiD app’
    4. When asked ‘On which device is your DigiD app installed?’, choose ‘On this device’.
    5. The DigiD app will open automatically.
    6. Enter your PIN or use facial recognition or your fingerprint.
    7. Follow the steps in the DigiD app.

    Troubleshooting

    If the DigiD app doesn't open automatically, open the website you want to log in to in another browser and try again. Try in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

    If you wish to log in with a device that the DigiD app is not installed on, for example a computer, do the following:

    1. Go to the website or the app of the organisation you want to log in to.
    2. Click ‘Log in with DigiD’.
    3. Click 'With the DigiD app’
    4. Open the DigiD app on your phone.
    5. Enter your PIN or use facial recognition or your fingerprint.
    6. Click ‘Verification code’
    7. A verification code will appear in the DigiD app.
    8. Fill in the verification code on the website and click ‘Next’.
    9. Follow the steps in the DigiD app.

    Troubleshooting

    If you can see a QR code, but cannot scan it, do the following:

    • Enlarge the screen of your browser.
    • Use a standard browser, like Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
    • Ensure that the mouse arrow is not positioned on or next to the QR code.
    • Check that there is nothing on the lens of your camera.
