The DigiD app is the easiest way to log in securely to government organisations. You log in via your telephone or tablet using a self-selected PIN, or using facial recognition.
DigiD shows organisations that you are who you say you are. Your personal data is well protected.
You can use the DigiD app to log in to many government organisations, including:
- the Tax Administration (Belastingdienst)
- the Social Insurance Bank (SVB)
- the Education Executive Agency (DUO)
- municipalities
- care institutions
- educational institutions
- pension funds.
Log in to all Dutch government organisations
If you have a Dutch identity document and want to log in to all organisations that use DigiD login, you can activate the DigiD app using the ID check, or add the ID check to your previously activated DigiD app.
Once you've added the ID check, you can view and update extra sensitive personal data, including information about your health.

Logging in to organisations in other European countries
DigiD is a recognised means of eID. You can use the DigiD app to log in to many government organisations in other European countries.
You can also activate your DigiD app if you are currently living abroad or in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. Before you can use the DigiD app, you will need to activate it.

The ID check allows you to do more with your DigiD app. For example, viewing and updating extra sensitive personal data, including information about your health.
If you activate the DigiD app using the ID check or add the ID check to your previously activated DigiD app you can log in to all organisations that use DigiD login.
The ID check is a one-time activity carried out by using your phone to scan your Dutch passport, ID card or driving licence.
Yes, you can activate and use the DigiD app on up to 5 telephones and/or tablets.
No, it is not possible for two or more people to use the same DigiD app. When you activate the DigiD app it is linked to your DigiD account.
