If you log in using DigiD SMS verification you will need to enter the code sent to your mobile phone by SMS text message as well as your username and password. You can also use DigiD SMS verification if you are located outside the Netherlands.
You can set it up so that when you log in with DigiD you always do so using a verification code sent to you by SMS. To do this, enable SMS verification in your settings on Mijn DigiD. If you want to log in more securely, use the DigiD app. Logging in with the app requires you to enter a personalised PIN.
This extra security check means your data is better protected. Many organisations no longer allow you to log in with just your DigiD username and password. This means you will have to use DigiD SMS verification or the DigiD app.
I don’t have a mobile telephone
If you don’t have a mobile telephone, you can choose to receive SMS text messages as spoken messages via your landline.
