What is DigiD SMS verification?
If you log in using DigiD SMS verification you will need to enter the code sent to your mobile phone by SMS text message as well as your username and password. You can also use DigiD SMS verification if you are located outside the Netherlands.
You can set up DigiD so that you always have to log in by following at least two steps. This means that you will always have to log in with an extra security feature, such as SMS verification or the DigiD app. To set this up, log in to Mijn DigiD.
This extra security check means your data is better protected. Many organisations no longer allow you to log in with just your DigiD username and password. This means you will have to use DigiD SMS verification or the DigiD app.
I don’t have a mobile telephone
If you don’t have a mobile telephone, you can choose to receive SMS text messages as spoken messages via your landline.
