I’ve forgotten my DigiD username or password

If you’ve forgotten your DigiD username, you will have to apply for a new DigiD. You can reset your password from outside the Netherlands via, using email and SMS or the DigiD app.

Forgot your username?

If you have forgotten your username you must apply for a new DigiD. Your username is private. No one can look it up for you.

Resetting your password using email and SMS

If you have added your email address and telephone number to your DigiD, you can reset your password via My DigiD. Enter the code you receive by email and SMS.

Reset your password using the DigiD app

If you have activated the DigiD app you can use it to reset your password via My DigiD as follows:

  1. Go to My DigiD and log in with the DigiD app
  2. Click on 'More details' under 'Username and password'
  3. Choose ‘Change password’
  4. Choose ‘I do not remember my current password and want to reset it via the DigiD app’
