I can't get to a DigiD service desk. What should I do?

If you are currently living abroad or in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom, and want to activate your DigiD but can't get to a service desk to collect your activation code, find out what you can do.

Attention: If you are in the Netherlands at the time of your appointment, you cannot use the DigiD video call service.

If you receive an AOW state pension from the Netherlands, or will soon begin receiving one, you can apply for a DigiD via the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). In that case, you will receive your activation code by post at your address outside the Netherlands. You do not need to arrange a video call or go to a DigiD service desk.

Use an eID from another European country

If you have a recognised form of eID from a European country, you may be able to use it instead of a DigiD. In that case, you do not need a DigiD.
