How do I apply for child benefit from outside the Netherlands?

To claim child benefit if you live outside the Netherlands, you must apply to the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) via My SVB. You will need to do this even if you are already getting Dutch child benefit for your other children.

Attention: First check if you qualify for child benefit abroad.

Applying via My SVB

To claim child benefit you must apply to the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) via My SVB (information in Dutch).

Log in to My SVB using your DigiD or another EU-approved login key. If you do not have a DigiD username and password, find out how to apply for DigiD from abroad.

I can’t log in to My SVB

If you can’t apply for child benefit because you can’t log into My SVB, please contact the SVB.

If you live in Morocco, Türkiye, South Africa, Spain or Suriname, please contact the SVB office at the Dutch embassy in your country.
