How can I track the status of my passport or ID-card application from abroad?
You can track the status of your application for a new Dutch passport or ID-card online. How you do this depends on where you submitted your application.
Application submitted at a Dutch embassy or consulate-general
If you submitted your application at a Dutch embassy or consulate-general you can track the status of your application online. You will need the reference number you received when you made the application.
- Open the track & trace system.
- Select the country where you submitted your application and your language.
- Click ‘Submit’.
- Fill in the reference number under ‘Tracking number’.
- Click ‘Submit’ to view the status of your application.
Application submitted at VFS Global
If you submitted your application at VFS Global you can track the status of your application online. You will need the reference number you received when you made the application.
- Go to the VFS Global website.
- Click ‘Passport Services’.
- Choose the country you live in and your nationality.
- Click ‘Go’.
- Go to ‘Track your application’ and click the link under ‘Track your application status online’.
- Fill in your name and the reference number you received when you submitted your application. You can find the reference number on the invoice/receipt you were given by the application centre.
- Click ‘Submit’ to view the status of your application.
