How long is the application process for a Dutch passport or ID-card abroad?

Processing times

- The processing time for your application starts on the day after you attended the application appointment and submitted the documents required.
- You will be sent an email as soon as your passport or ID-card is ready.

Why is my application taking longer to be processed?
Sometimes the processing time is longer than 6 weeks. Reasons why your application may take longer:
- Your application is delayed because of high application volumes.
- You need to submit additional documents. You will get notified if additional documents are required for your application.
