Which documents do I need to apply for a Dutch passport or ID-card from abroad?
If you live outside the Netherlands and want to apply for or renew a Dutch passport or ID card, you will need to provide a number of documents. Which documents you need to provide depends on your situation and your country of residence.

You will always need these documents
Whatever your situation, you will always need these documents for your passport or ID card application:
- a completed passport application form. Are you applying for both a passport and an ID card? Then bring 2 application forms. Download the application form and fill it in
- a passport photo that meets Dutch requirements. Check the requirements for a passport photo
- a printed personal checklist. Complete the checklist and print it
- proof of legal residence of the country you live in
