Changing the telephone number used for DigiD from outside the Netherlands

If you want to link a new telephone number to your DigiD from outside the Netherlands, you can do so by using the DigiD app or having an SMS sent to your old mobile telephone number.

Attention:

 you don’t have the DigiD app or access to your old mobile telephone you can only change your telephone number by applying for a new DigiD. Read more on the page How do I apply for DigiD from abroad.

Changing your telephone number using the DigiD app

You can change your telephone number if you have an activated DigiD app.

  1. Log in to Mijn DigiD.
  2. Click on "More details" under Username and password.
  3. Select "Change telephone number"
  4. Select "Via the DigiD app".
  5. Enter your new telephone number.
  6. Enter the code you receive on your phone.
  7. Open the DigiD app and enter your pin.
  8. Click on 'Need verification code?'
  9. A verification code will appear in the DigiD app.
  10. Enter the verification code on the other screen.
  11. Scan the QR code with the DigiD app.
  12. Your telephone number should now be changed.

Changing your telephone number by having an SMS sent to your old mobile phone number

If you can still receive SMS messages on your old number, follow these instructions to change your telephone number:

  1. Log in to Mijn DigiD.
  2. Click on "More details" under Username and password.
  3. Select "Change phone number".
  4. Select "Via an SMS to my old telephone number".
  5. Re-enter your password.
  6. You will receive an SMS code on your old telephone number.
  7. Enter the code.
  8. Enter your new telephone number.
  9. You will receive an SMS code on your new number.
  10. Enter the code.
  11. Your telephone number should now be changed.
