How can I arrange proof of private accommodation so I can visit the Netherlands?
If you want to visit the Netherlands for a maximum of 90 days and you will stay with someone or they will arrange accommodation on your behalf, you may need proof of private accommodation. Read here how to arrange this.
Step 1: Check whether you need proof of private accommodation
Whether you need proof of private accommodation depends on your nationality and country of residence, and on whether you are an immediate family member of a national of an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland.

Step 2: Ask someone to provide you with proof of private accommodation
Ask the person providing accommodation to fill in a proof of private accommodation form (IND). By filling in the form, the person pledges to provide you with temporary accommodation in the Netherlands.
If you are travelling with other people, everyone will require their own proof of private accommodation, including children.
Step 3: Use the proof of private accommodation
How you use the proof of private accommodation depends on whether you need a visa to visit the Netherlands.
The person providing accommodation will need to have the form legalised at a Dutch municipality. They will then need to send the original form to you by post. Once you have received the form, apply for your visa within 6 months of the form being legalised.

You will need to submit a colour photocopy of the form together with your application. Show the original form at the desk when you submit the application (you will be given it back immediately). Take the form with you when you travel. You will need to show the original at Dutch border control.
If you don’t need a visa, legalisation is not necessary. The person providing accommodation can sign the form by themselves. They will need to send you the original form by post. Take the original form with you when to travel, to show at Dutch border control.
