Step 1: Check whether proof of private accommodation is needed
Whether your visitor needs proof of private accommodation depends on their nationality and country of residence, and on whether they are a direct family member of a national of an EU/EEA member state or Switzerland.
Check whether your visitor needs proof of private accommodation
Step 2: Fill in the form
Fill in the IND proof of private accommodation form. By completing and signing the form you are declaring that you will provide your visitor with accommodation.
If you wish to provide private accommodation for several visitors, you will need to fill in a separate form for each person. This also applies to children.
Step 3: Check whether legalisation is required
Sometimes a Dutch municipality must legalise your signature on the form. This depends on whether your visitor needs a visa to visit the Netherlands.
If your visitor needs a visa, your signature will need to be legalised. Make an appointment at a Dutch municipality to do this and take your ID with you. You will have to sign the form in the presence of a authorised municipal official.
If your visitor doesn't need a visa, legalisation is not necessary. You can sign the form by yourself.
Step 4: Send the form
Send the original form by post to your visitor. Your visitor must bring it when they travel to show at the Dutch border.
If your visitor needs a visa, they will also need the original form to apply for their visa. Your visitor will need to apply for the visa within 6 months of the form being legalised.
