What do I need to travel to the Netherlands?

Language selection:English

If you are travelling to the Netherlands for a maximum of 90 days or returning to the Netherlands, answer up to 9 questions to find out which documents you need for your trip.

EES and ETIAS

Since 12 October 2025, the Netherlands uses the European automated Entry/Exit System (EES). If you are travelling to the Netherlands for a short stay and are not a national of a European Union country, the EES may record your data. Find out more about EES (Government.nl).

Want to know how many days you are still allowed to stay in the European countries using the EES? Check the EES online tool (European Union).

You may require a travel authorisation to visit the Netherlands and other European countries for a short stay. You can apply online via the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS).

Attention: You cannot apply for ETIAS yet. As soon as this is possible, you will read it here.
