Step 1: Check whether you still have Dutch nationality

First make sure you still have Dutch nationality. If you voluntarily acquired another nationality, you may have lost your Dutch nationality. There are certain exceptions where you don’t lose your Dutch nationality.

• If you no longer have Dutch nationality, you can’t apply for a Dutch passport or ID card. In some situations, you may be able to regain your Dutch nationality.
