How do I register as a Dutch voter abroad?
If you live outside the Netherlands and you would like to vote in Dutch elections from abroad, you must register as a Dutch voter abroad via the Municipality of The Hague. You only need to register once. After you have done so you will automatically receive voting documents for all Dutch and European parliamentary elections.
You must register as a Dutch voter abroad by 3 February 2021 to be able to vote in the parliamentary elections on 17 March 2021.
Conditions for registering
- You live outside the Netherlands and are not registered with a Dutch municipality
- You have a valid Dutch passport or ID card
- You are at least 18 years old
A certificate of Dutch nationality cannot be used for registration purposes.
If you last registered before 1 April 2017
As of 1 April 2017, you only have to register as a Dutch voter abroad one time. If you last registered before 1 April 2017, for example before that year’s Dutch parliamentary election, you will have to re-register. If you don’t know whether you are already registered, please contact the Municipality of The Hague.
