Authorising someone else to access your Message Box

You can authorise another person to access certain messages in your Message Box. You can authorise someone to read your mail from one or more organisations. If you live outside the Netherlands, you will need a DigiD for this.

How can I authorise someone to access my messages?

With your DigiD you can authorise another person to access your Message Box messages. It’s possible to authorise multiple people to access some or all of your messages.

The person you authorise must:

  • agree to the authorisation
  • have an activated MijnOverheid account

Access to your Message Box

You’ll find a list of the organisations for which authorisation is possible (information in Dutch) on the DigiD authorisation website. Another person can see only the messages in your Message Box from the organisation or organisations for which you have given them authorisation. They can view these messages, move them, delete them or forward them by email. They will not have access to anything other than what they have been authorised for.

Withdrawing authorisation

If you no longer want another person to access the messages in your Message Box, you can withdraw their authorisation. This can be done in 2 ways:

  • digitally, on the DigiD authorisation website (information in Dutch). Click ‘Mijn Machtigingen’ (My authorisations) and log in with your DigiD. Then select the organisation for which you’d like to withdraw authorisation.
  • by calling the DigiD authorisation helpdesk: +31 88 123 65 55. For this you will need an authorisation code. The helpdesk is available Monday to Friday, from 8.00 to 22.00 (Dutch time).
