Frequently asked questions temporary closure of Ankara embassy
The embassy in Ankara, Türkiye will be closed for several weeks in July. Read the frequently asked questions to find out what this means for you.
When is the embassy closed?
The embassy is closed from:
- 6 to 12 July 2026
- 27 July to 2 August 2026
Contact and appointment
Dutch embassies and consulates-general can be contacted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the Netherlands Worldwide contact centre by phone on +31 247 247 247 or WhatsApp: +31 857 737 400.
If you have an appointment at the embassy during the period it is closed, your appointment will be moved. You do not need to take any action. The embassy will contact you by email to arrange a new appointment.
Emergency travel document and passport
During the period that the embassy is closed, you cannot apply for an emergency travel document at the embassy in Ankara. You can do so at the consulate-general in Istanbul instead.

The embassy is closed to the public from 6 to 12 July and from 27 July to 2 August 2026. You can make an appointment outside these dates by emailing ank-ca@minbuza.nl. The embassy will let you know when the next appointment is available.
You can also apply for a Dutch passport or ID card at the consulate-general in Istanbul.
Visa and mvv
The embassy is closed to the public from 6 to 12 July and from 27 July to 2 August 2026. You can make an appointment outside these dates by emailing ank-ca@minbuza.nl. The embassy will let you know when the next appointment is available.
You can also apply for an MVV visa sticker at the consulate-general in Istanbul.
From 6 to 12 July VFS Global in Ankara, Antalya, Izmir and Gaziantep is closed. During this period, you can go to another VFS Global office in Turkey.

Other services
From 6 to 12 July and from 27 July to 2 August 2026 the following services are not available at the embassy in Ankara: civic integration exam, legalisation, consular certificates, DNA samples and video call interviews. For most of these services you can make an appointment at the consulate-general in Istanbul instead.
