Registering a civil partnership in the Netherlands

Do you want to form a civil partnership? If so, you must first notify the municipality. You must do this at least 2 weeks and a maximum of 1 year before you want to form the civil partnership.

The registration of a civil partnership is subject to a number of conditions (in Dutch), such as:

you must be at least 18 years of age;
you cannot enter into a civil partnership with someone who is already married or in a civil partnership
you cannot be related to one other, e.g. grandparent, grandchild, parent, child or sibling.

Registering a intended marriage or civil partnership

You can register a intended marriage or civil partnership with the municipality in which you wish to enter the marriage or civil partnership. You must notify the municipality of this at least 2 weeks and not more than 1 year before the wedding or civil partnership. You can register online (in Dutch). You need your DigiD to do this. You can also contact the municipality of Noordwijk by phoning +31 71 36 60 000.

We need the information:

date, time and location of the ceremony;
preference wedding registrar;
copies of valid identity documents of yourself, your partner and your witnesses.

Living outside the Netherlands

Do you and your partner live outside the Netherlands? And are you or is your partner a Dutchmen? Then you must give notice of your intended marriage or civil partnership in the municipality The Hague. The municipality of The Hague will send the registration to us.

No ceremony: free of charge.
Simple ceremony: € 108,-.
Elaborate ceremony:
- Ceremony in the city Hall on monday to friday: € 432,-.
- Ceremony in the city Hall on saturday: € 626,-.
- Ceremony in other location then the city Hall on monday to sunday: € 432,-.
