Applying for a new passport or renewing your old one

Applying for a passport can only be done by appointment. The identity card will be ready for you at the reception of the municipal office 5 working days after application, or you can have it delivered to your home. Your passport is valid for 10 years; for young people under 18, the validity is 5 years.

Please note: you can only apply for a new Dutch passport or renew your old one if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.
