Applying for an allowance for own contribution to childcare costs in the Netherlands

Do you have a lower income and do you receive childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag)? Then you can apply for an extra allowance for your own contribution to the costs of childcare. You can apply for this at your municipality.

To be eligible for the extra allowance the following conditions apply:

you must already be receiving childcare benefit from the Dienst Toeslagen;
your (joint) income must not exceed the limit. Your municipality sets the maximum amount.

You receive a social assistance allowance and you also have a (part-time) job, are studying, are taking civic integration courses or are working on returning to the labor market (reintegration). And: you have children. Taking care of a family can sometimes be difficult to combine with work or study. Childcare can then offer a solution.

You must meet the following conditions:

You receive childcare allowance from the Belastingdienst (Tax and Customs Administration).
You, your partner and your child are registered with the municipality of Bodegraven-Reeuwijk.
You receive a social assistance allowance, work, study, follow civic integration courses or reintegrate.

The municipality will send you a letter within 8 weeks informing you whether you are entitled to the compensation for the personal contribution to childcare allowance. That letter will also state how long you will receive the contribution.

If we make a decision regarding your social assistance, you will be notified in writing. You can disagree with such a decision, or the way in which it is carried out by Ferm Werk, and then you can appeal.

An objection therefore has to do with dissatisfaction on your part when it comes to decisions about your social assistance. You must submit an objection in writing. If you receive a letter from us with a decision, you have 6 weeks to let us know that you are objecting. Always state your name and address details in your objection and clearly state which decision you are objecting to.
