What personal data is recorded in the Personal Records Database?

You can check what personal data of yours is recorded in the Personal Records Database (BRP) on MijnOverheid. If you live outside the Netherlands and are unable to access your data online, you can also do so via an RNI municipality.

I live in the Netherlands

Do you live in the Netherlands? Then you are registered as a resident in the BRP of a Dutch municipality.

The BRP may contain the following data about you:

  • name
  • sex
  • citizen service number (BSN)
  • nationality
  • details about your residence permit (IND)
  • address
  • voting status
  • details about your travel documents
  • parents’ details
  • details of any marriages/registered partnerships
  • children’s details
  • parental responsibility and guardianship
  • details relating to your registration in the BRP

Viewing your data online on MijnOverheid

On MijnOverheid you can check what personal data of yours is recorded in the BRP. Log in to the website using your DigiD. Once you have logged in click ‘Identiteit’. You can then click through to your personal data.

If you do not have a DigiD, you can apply for one.

Can't find it online? If you live in the Netherlands, you can contact the municipality where you live.

I live outside the Netherlands

Do you no longer live in the Netherlands? If so, you are registered as a non-resident in the Register of Non-Residents (RNI).

Have you never lived in the Netherlands but do have a relationship with the Dutch government? Then you can register in the RNI.

Are you staying in the Netherlands for less than 4 months? Then you can also register in the RNI.
