Digital Food Tech mission to Singapore, 15 & 16 October and 12 & 24 November, 2020
Dutch start-ups and scaleups will make the virtual journey to Singapore from 15 & 16 October and 12 & 24 November 2020 to attend the Digital Food Tech mission. In online sessions and through a digital interactive platform, participants will meet experts and investors, expand their network and discuss the future of food, all from the comfort of their own home. And it's still possible to join!
Singapore imports more than 90% of its food but has the ambition of producing 30% of its nutritional needs by 2030 – up from less than 10% today. The aim is to increase the cultivation of vegetables and fruit and boost the production of protein sources to strengthen the resilience of Singapore’s food supply.
Over last decade the protein market has already transformed, mostly driven by consumer demand for healthier, more sustainable products. Driven by more awareness of ‘alternative protein’ sources plant-based, fungal, insect and even cultured alternatives are now competing with the traditional animal-based sources.
That is why the country is investing heavily in initiatives in the field of high-tech, climate-proof and efficient food production. In addition, Singapore has the ambition to develop an R&D and Innovation Hub. Singapore sees the Netherlands as an example in the field of Agro-Food and Food Technology. There are already various collaborations such as Wageningen University & Research with Nanyang Technological University in place.
The highly successful Food&HotelAsia (FHA) is Asia’s largest Food Trade Event that brings together the global food and hospitality community and will take place from 2 – 5 March 2021. In view of this event the Netherlands Embassy in Singapore is bringing together Dutch Start-ups and Scaleups in the field of Food Tech for the Digital Food Tech mission to Singapore from 15 & 16 October and 12 & 24 November, 2020.
This mission is aimed at strengthening the position of the Dutch food innovation ecosystem and providing insight into the opportunities that exist in Singapore. The focus is on innovative technology in the field of microbial (single-cell) proteins, cultured meat, vegetable alternatives to animal products, proteins from insects and upcycling food waste (residual flow validation) and personalized nutrition (personalized nutrition).
