Are you flying to Europe with Air France? You need a safe pass

Are you in Cuba and you are flying to Europe with Air France? You will need a safe pass.

The Air France airline is currently one of the few companies that connect Cuba with Europe. Therefore, if a Cuban or third-country citizen is in possession of a valid Schengen visa, it is very probable that he/she plans a transit through France via Air France.

If this traveler wishes to enter the Schengen area from France, it is essential to be provided with a safe-pass issued by the French authorities and only for verified emergencies.

How to obtain the safe-pass?

This process is personal and must be initiated at the French Embassy, which will forward it to the French authorities for a decision.
The application file must consist of:

  • Explanatory letter describing the important reasons.
  • Copy of the applicant's passport.
  • Document from the country of final destination that mentions the authorization to enter its territory.
  • If the request is made by a diplomatic, service or official passport holder, he/she must present a verbal note from the Embassy that has issued the visa supporting the process.

The applicant must send their request by email to:
