Meet online with famous Dutch author Tommy Wieringa, 13 May 2020
On 13 May, Tommy Wieringa, author of bestselling novels like Joe Speedboat and The Death of Murat Idrissi, will be in conversation with Sam Garrett, translator of Wieringa's novel The Blessed Rita. The conversation is chaired by literary journalist Suzi Feay and audiences can tune in online to be part of it, from 7pm to 8pm live on YouTube.

The event is organised by The National Centre for Writing in Norwich, the Dutch Foundation for Literature, and Modern Culture. It is part of the New Dutch Writing campaign, aimed at promoting English translations of Dutch books to audiences in the UK and Ireland. The conversation with Tommy Wieringa and Sam Garrett is part of the Meet the World series at the National Centre for Writing. Two other Dutch language authors will soon take the digital stage at this interview series: Charlotte van den Broeck (from Flanders, Belgium) converses with her translator David Colmer on 27 May and Rodaan al Galidi will share the stage with his translator Jonathan Reeder on 10 June.
