Border forces Netherlands and UK intensify contacts
Now that the United Kingdom has left the European Union, the Dutch border force (Koninklijke Marechausse) is intensifying contacts with British border control and immigration services. To that effect, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee has recently appointed two dedicated Liaison Officers for the UK, one is based in the Netherlands while another has an office at the Dutch Embassy in London.
There has also been renewed contact on a higher level this week. The Commander of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, Mr Hans Leijtens, visited the Director General of UK Border Force, Mr Paul Lincoln on 4 February 2020. Staying in close contact with each other is a prerequisite to successfully combat illegal migration and human trafficking.
