The Embassy of the Netherlands in Kyiv is looking for a Senior Political Affairs Officer, starting from 1 February 2020

Basic function of position (full time):

The Embassy is a professional and dynamic organization with a motivated and enthusiastic team that accounts of 30 persons. As senior political affairs officer you work with five colleagues in the political cluster of the embassy, headed directly by the head of the cluster.

You provide the political cluster and diplomatic staff members with relevant information about political developments in Ukraine in relation to the Netherlands, the EU, NATO and the wider geo-political developments. You maintain and expand the embassy network of NGO’s, think tanks, universities, (social) media and (local) authorities. You use internal and external sources for timely updates and information sharing on political developments in Ukraine and you contribute to embassy reporting. You also contribute to the implementation of the PD strategy of the embassy and analyses how the Kingdom of the Netherlands is covered in Ukrainian (social) media.

Required Qualification

•            Academic background

•            At least 7 years of relevant working experience

•            Fluency (orally and in writing) in English, Ukrainian and Russian

•            Vast network in media, think tanks universities and civil society in Ukraine

•            Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing

•            Analytical, networking and organisational skills

•            Experience in project management

•            Ability to work with and interest in social media

•            Ability to travel outside Kyiv and to work outside regular office hours

•            Flexibility and team spirit
