Joint Communiqué on the 1st consular dialogue between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Republic of Indonesia
Consular assistance – taking care of our citizens abroad – forms a shared priority for all national administrations, embassies and consulates. Today in The Hague, the Republic of Indonesia and The Kingdom of the Netherlands have held the first high level joint consular dialogue, which was successful and fruitful.
The main objective of this dialogue, building on a strong bilateral relationship, was to further strengthen cooperation on consular assistance for citizens abroad in need, to share best practices and to strengthen consular and diplomatic cooperation and facilitation between our countries.
The exchanges that took place during this dialogue focused on current, future as well as outstanding and reciprocal issues in our bilateral cooperation. It adressed consular cases, care for detainees, nationality issues, assistance for nationals seeking governmental assistance on international family matters, visa policy and diplomatic facilities issues.
Both delegations, headed by Dr. A. Hadi of the Republic of Indonesia and Mr. JW Beaujean of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, have committed themselves to take this opportunity to further strengthen and institutionalise consular cooperation between both countries in order to provide citizens with the best consular assistance around the globe, and agreed to hold regular annual high level joint consular consultations.
