UAE visit, Deputy Vice Minister for Foreign Trade, Guido Landheer
On 13 and 14 November, Deputy Vice Minister for Foreign Trade, Mr. Guido Landheer, payed a visit to the United Arab Emirates. He was treated a busy, but very innovative and inspiring program to further strengthen the economic partnerships between the Netherlands and the UAE involving the oil and gas industry as well as the Creative sector.
Opening ADIPEC 2017
Upon his arrival, Deputy Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Mr. Guido Landheer payed a visit to the ADIPEC, the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference. The ADIPEC is one of the world’s largest oil and gas events which had started that same morning. Mr. Guido Landheer opened the Holland+You pavilion where the Netherlands are well represented with 24 companies within the Holland+You pavilion and 48 Dutch companies in total.
You can find the Holland+You pavilion in Hall 11 at ADNEC, in Abu Dhabi. The pavilion is facilitated by the IRO, The Association of Dutch Suppliers in the Oil and Gas Industry and Offshore Renewable Industry.
Visit EXPO2020 site, Dubai
On Monday afternoon, Deputy Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Mr. Guido Landheer visited the Expo2020 site. Here, the discussion revolved around the plans for the Expo as well as the Dutch participation. They were also able to view the progress of the work on site.
Visit Unilever Personal Care Factory
Sustainability was the next topic on the agenda as Mr. Landheer and the Consul General visited Unilever’s Personal Care Factory. There they met with staff and discussed Unilever's efforts to increase sustainability in all facets of the Dutch company.
Dubai Design Week
The day ended with a round table discussion with a group of Dutch creative entrepreneurs and a visit to the exhibition of Olivier van Herpt and Studio Mieke Meijer at Dubai Design Week.
Visit to the UAE Ministry of Economic Affairs
On Tuesday morning, Deputy Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, Mr. Guido Landheer had a productive meeting with Assistant Minister H.E. Mohammed Al Shehhi of UAE Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Netherlands and the UAE are eager to increase partnerships in innovation and the food-energy-water nexus omongst others.
Abu Dhabi International Airport's Midfield Terminal Building
After his visit to Dubai, Mr. Guido Landheer, the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Frank Mollen and Lucille Merks, Deputy Head of Mission & Economic Counsellor, payed a visit to the new Midfield Terminal Building (MTB) of Abu Dhabi's International Airport. The new terminal will be operatow.ional in 2019 and will double the airport's capacity. Several Dutch companies (a.o. Haskoning & Deerns) are involved in the construction of the Terminal.
Louvre Abu Dhabi
After a business lunch at the Ambassador's residence, it was time to pay a visit to the Louvre on Saadiyat Island, the Cultural District of Abu Dhabi. After a week of celebratory affairs, the museum officially opened its doors to the public Saturday the 11th of November and Mr. Guido Landheer had the opportunity to see this remarkable designed structure by the architect Jean Nouvel with his own eyes.
Dutch ADIPEC Oil & Gas Reception, Abu Dhabi
The program in the UAE was festively finished by the Dutch ADIPEC Oil & Gas Reception organised by the IRO, Dutch Energy Solutions and the Embassy of the Netherlands in Abu Dhabi. On a beautiful pooldeck location, nearly 200 oil & gas professionals joined the gathering to strengthen relationships and network. Mr. Guido Landheer offered the public a passionate speech about Team Nl and Dutch DNA at the end of his succesful visit to the UAE.
