'Women empowerment' program

The Consulate-General in Toronto, the Embassy in Ottawa, the WE EMPOWER programme of the EU, UN Women and the ILO have teamed up for a program focused on EU and Canadian women in international trade and tech, to enrich their visit to Toronto on the occassion of Collision Conference. The program is designed to empower women with valuable networking opportunities and the exhange of insights. The public program elements are:

  • 'Women in tech' Tour at Collision Conference - Tuesday, May 21, 11:00 - 11:30 am, starting at the Holland Lounge (E194).

Tip: arrive early and get a coffee at the Holland Lounge. Starting at 11:00 am, a member of the Collision team will guide a tour along the conference grounds to cover the key areas to explain its different features, participants and opportunities, upon which the tour will end at Collision’s 'Women in tech' Lounge. No registration is required.

  • 'Women in tech and trade' Panel discussion on Thursday, May 23, 3:00 - 5:00 pm at the Invest in Canada Pavilion (E246) at Collision conference.

The panel discussion will shed a light on the inherent barriers facing women in trade and tech industries, along with proven solutions to overcoming these barriers. Showcasing success stories of inspiring women and underscoring the best practices for inclusion and equity in the tech and trade sectors. No registration is required, all are welcome!

3:00 pm - Welcome by Wendy Cukier, professor and former VP of Research & Innovation at Ryerson University, Founder and Director of Diversity Institute

3:05 pm - Opening remarks by the French Ambassador to Canada, Kareen Rispal

3:20 - Panel discussion with:

  • Claudette McGowan, Chief Information Officer, Bank of Montreal (BMO)
  • Janelle Hinds, Founder, Helping Hands
  • Rola Dagher, President, Cisco Systems Canada
  • Melina Jacovou, CEO/Founder, Propel London Ltd

The panel will be moderated by Nicole Verkindt, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, OMX

Visit the Holland Lounge (E194)

This year during Collision conference, meet the Dutch at the Holland Lounge. The Holland Lounge at stand E194 provides a meeting place for all Dutch companies visiting and those interested to learn more about Dutch tech solutions and/or doing business in Canada. Members of the Consulate and the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) will also be present to support and promote economic partnerships with Canadian counterparts. Swing by for a coffee or get in touch if you want to make an appointment!
