Registering a birth in the Netherlands

If you have just had a new baby, you must register the birth. This applies to all children born in the Netherlands. You must register the birth within 3 days in the municipality where they were born. The mother, father or the mother's female partner (duomoeder) can register the birth.

This is how it works in your (future) place of residence

Your (future) place of residence falls under the Municipality of Delft.

Registration of a birth

A birth must be registered in the municipality where the child was born. Is this Delft? And are you both Dutch nationals? In that case you may register the birth online. Log on with the help of your DigiD.

You may also register a birth at the City Desk (Stadskantoor). Make an appointment first, or call 14015 (0031 15 260 2222 for foreign calls).
