Paying the sewage charge

You pay a sewage charge (rioolheffing) for your wastewater and for rainwater that ends up in the sewer. The sewage charge is part of the municipal taxes and is collected by the municipality, which uses that money to pay for maintenance and replacement of the sewers. Some municipalities also call the sewage charge sewage tax (rioolbelasting).

Each municipality has its own way of calculating the sewage charge. For example, some municipalities calculate the sewage charge based on the value of the property. Others base it on drinking-water consumption. To find out how your municipality calculates the sewage charge, contact your municipality.

The sewage charge is included in the municipal tax bill. This is usually sent out in the first 2 weeks of February.

Paying the sewage charge

The municipality maintains the sewer and ensures the maintenance of rainwater and groundwater in the public area. In addition to the collection, disposal and purification of waste water, the municipality also manages and maintains, for example, ditches, ditches and waterways in the municipality of Coevorden.

For whom:

The user of a plot receives the sewerage tax assessment for the wastewater (wastewater sewerage tax assessment). The owner of a plot receives the sewerage tax assessment for the drainage of rainwater and groundwater (sewerage tax assessment fixed charge and WOZ sewerage tax assessment). What will you pay: The user pays for the waste water based on the number of m3 that is discharged. The owner pays a fixed charge for rain and groundwater drainage. This is a fixed amount per plot. The owner also pays an amount for rain and groundwater drainage that is based on a percentage of the WOZ value. A standing charge is an amount that every owner of a plot pays for the rain and groundwater portion for the public area. The municipality charges costs for this. Fixed charges are not for the maintenance and management of your own home or business premises.

Are you moving or selling your home or business premises and are you the owner? Are you selling your property or moving during the year? The situation on January 1 determines the assessment. You pay the entire assessment to us. You may be able to settle the amount with the new owner. The notary usually arranges this for you during the sale.

Are you moving and are you a user? Are you moving within the municipality of Coevorden? Then the attack remains the same. You will pay for the new building from January 1 next year. Are you moving to another municipality? We will then refund the excess amount paid. You will receive a reduction for the remaining full months after moving.

Therefore, inform the municipality where you will be living in a timely manner of your move. Are you moving from another municipality to the municipality of Coevorden? Then you will pay the wastewater sewerage tax from the next month.
