Paying parking tax

Parking your car or other vehicle is not free everywhere and at all times in the Netherlands. In some areas and at certain times you have to pay for parking. By paying for parking you also pay parking tax (parkeerbelasting). If you do not pay for parking where and when necessary you will be charged a penalty. This penalty is called a parking ticket (parkeerbon). If you disagree with the penalty you can challenge it with the municipality.

If you have not paid for parking, you will be charged a penalty. This is referred to as a parkeerbon (parking ticket). You receive this parking ticket from your municipality.

License plate parking has been introduced in Oldenzaal. A new and convenient way to park the car. The big difference is that no parking ticket comes out of the parking meter. The license plate number of the car is entered. Payment can be made in cash or by debit card. The system registers the payment in a central location. So you do not have to walk back to the car after payment to insert a parking ticket.

View the locations of the parking meters in the appendices at the bottom of this page. You can see where the parking meters are located.
