Notifying the municipality when you move home
Are you moving home within the Netherlands? If so, notify the new municipality where you are going to live of your move. The new municipality will register you at your new address. You do not need to deregister from your old municipality.
The move can be notified by:
- anyone aged 16 or older;
- cohabiting spouses / civil partners on behalf of each other;
- the parent, guardian or caregiver on behalf of minor children;
- parents on behalf of adult children living with them;
- adult children on behalf of parents living with them;
- the conservator on behalf of a person placed under a conservatorship;
- an authorised representative.
You must notify the new municipality where you are going to live that you are moving home. You must inform it of your new address no later than 4 weeks before the moving date, or within 5 days after the moving date.
This is how it works for you
Here is some information from your municipality.
Notifying the municipality when you move home
Report your move to the municipality where you will be living. Is no one registered at the new address? Then report your move using DigiD. Is anyone registered? Please report your move in writing or at the city office.
- A copy of your ID.
- A copy of your rental or purchase contract. Please note: the purchase contract must have been signed by the notary.
- Are you going to live with someone? Then the main resident or the landlord must complete and sign the statement on the moving form (verhuisformulier). Print out the moving form, have it completed and take it with you.
- A copy of an ID of the main resident or landlord if you are going to live with someone.
- Written permission if the address where you will live is from Samenwerking or Waterweg Wonen.
- Digital: Via the digital moving form with your DigiD. Please note: this is only possible if no one else is registered at the new address. If this is the case, you must report your move in writing or at the city office.
- Written:
- Print the moving form (verhuisformulier), fill it in and sign it.
- The moving form states which documents you must send.
- Are you going to live with someone?
- In the case of occupancy (home not owned by a housing association), print out the declaration of consent regarding occupancy (instemmingverklaring betreffende inwoning), complete and sign it.
- In the case of living in a home of Waterweg Wonen or Samenwerking, print out the accommodation form Samenwerking en Waterweg Wonen (inwoning Samenwerking en Waterweg Wonen), complete it and sign it.
- Send the forms and documents to the Municipality of Vlaardingen, Attn. Customer Contact Center, PO Box 1002, 3130 EB Vlaardingen.
