Applying for a planning permit
Are you planning to build or demolish something in your garden or next to your home? For example, do you intend to build a garage or cut down a tree? If so, you will often need a planning permit (omgevingsvergunning). You can apply for this permit via Omgevingsloket online. In some cases you only need to notify the authorities, and no permit is required.
You need a planning permit for various activities in your garden or in and around your house, such as:
- construction;
- demolition;
- building a driveway;
- modifying, renovating or restoring a listed building;
- cutting down trees.
Go to Omgevingsloket online (online environment portal) to check whether you require a planning permit (in Dutch) or if just a notification is sufficient.

If you prefer to send in a written application, you can download a planning permit form (in Dutch) via Omgevingsloket online. You can send the form by post to your municipality.

Rules
Check if your plan complies with the rules:
- Destination plan (Bestemmingsplan): What is allowed in a certain place
- If your plan does not fit into the destionation plan, you must request permission to deviate

Nature conservation
- You must check whether plants or animals that are protected by the Nature Conservation Act live on the construction site. see if you need permission and how to request it

Involve the neighborhood (participation)
- In Hilversum, everyone who starts a project (initiators) has to contact people who live in the area or are involved in another way (stakeholders) at an early stage. That's called participation
- For example, it may concern residents who want to place a dormer window, but also companies that want to build a new residential area

BLVC plan
- For large construction projects with a lot of consequences for the environment, you send a BLVC plan along with the application. This concerns measures for Accessibility, Quality of Living and Safety during construction. And about the Communication about this to the neighborhood
