Applying for a parking permit

Do you live in an area where you have to pay to park your car or other vehicle? You can apply to the municipality for a residents’ parking permit (parkeervergunning voor bewoners). If you have a residents' parking permit, you do not have to pay for parking at the parking meter or via a parking app.

A parking permit is registered to a specified vehicle registration number. If you have more than 1 car or other vehicle, you must apply for a separate parking permit for each vehicle.

Here is some information from your municipality.

Parking in a Parking Permit Zone

If you want to park in a parking permit zone, you will need a parking permit. The permit zone is intended to make it possible for specific car owners to park. If this zone is designated for you, you can apply for a permit from the municipality. Request your parking permit here if you want to park in the parking permit zone designated for you.

You can only get a permit to park in the permit zone area if you live in the area.

For a resident's permit the following applies:

  • You are registered at the municipality at an address in the parking zone area;
  • You do not have a parking space on your own premises;
  • Permits are granted according to number plate: therefore the car must be registered in your name;
  • If you have a lease car, you will need a statement from your employer or your lease contract;
  • Even if several people each with their own car are registered at that address, only one permit may be applied for.

The following applies for a permit for businesses (work or company):

  • No permits are granted for business purposes within the municipality of Montferland.

To apply for a permit, you'll need a copy of the licence plate registration and your driving licence.

A permit lets you park in the permit zone. The municipality can determine for which municipal parking facilities the parking zone is established and for whom it is intended.

You can apply for a parking permit by clicking on the 'apply' button above. The municipality will assess your application and issue the permit if your application is approved.

Please note! A first application is only valid for the calendar year of application. For example: you apply for your first permit now. It will be valid up to and including 31 December 2022.

An extension can be applied for in advance for the 2023 calendar year. This will be valid from 1 January 2023.

Are you sure that you want to apply for a parking permit? The parking zones only apply for specific addresses. If your property is in the blue zone, and you do not have your own parking facility, you may be able to apply for an exemption to be able to park in the blue zone for more than 2 hours. See the 'Parking in the blue zone' page.

To apply for a permit, you'll need a copy of the licence plate registration and your driving licence.

There are costs attached to processing your application. These are called fees (leges). For an up-to-date overview of fees, please consult the fee ordinance at www.overheid.nl.

The fees are for processing your application. You are liable for the fees, even if you application is turned down. Therefore, be sure to check that you are eligible for a parking permit.
