Road racing

You are obliged to apply for an exemption if you wish to hold competitions on the public roadway. You apply for the exemption with the manager of that road. The exemption will only be granted if demonstrable measures are in place to ensure the safety of participants and organisers. The Wet aansprakelijkheidsverzekering motorrijtuigen (Motor Vehicle Liability Insurance Act) applies.

You can apply for an exemption from the Province if the following applies: you want to organize a competition that uses public roads and the competition takes place in the area of several municipalities. You are eligible for an exemption if your application meets the following conditions: you can demonstrate that measures have been taken in the form of third-party insurance for liability for possible damage, you can demonstrate that there is approval from the road authorities involved and that they are willing to cooperate with the event. The application further shows that exemptions from the Traffic Rules and Signs Regulations 1990 are required.

Civil liability insurance, route map, route description, declarations of no objection from the relevant municipalities.

There are no costs involved.

You will receive the decision within 8 weeks from the date we received your application. We can extend this period by 6 weeks. If we require more information, we will suspend the decision period.

If the decision directly affects your interests and you do not agree with the content of this decision, you can lodge an objection. You must then submit a notice of objection within six weeks of the day on which the decision was sent.
