Applying for an allowance for own contribution to childcare costs in the Netherlands

Do you have a lower income and do you receive childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag)? Then you can apply for an extra allowance for your own contribution to the costs of childcare. You can apply for this at your municipality.

Municipality of Zaanstad: Applying for an allowance for own contribution to childcare costs

If you receive a social benefit, it will be checked whether you can work. If you care for children, you can use childcare. In that case, you may be able to get a contribution towards the costs from the municipality.

For a municipal contribution to the costs of childcare, you must meet one of the following conditions:

  • You will receive a benefit from the municipality of Zaanstad. This can be based on the Participation Act, the IOAW or the IOAZ. You also follow a training and/or mediation process to help you find work. This route is paid for by the municipality
  • You are obliged to integrate and follow a course for this
  • You work, but your income is supplemented with a benefit.

An application can be submitted online. You need a DigiD for this. You can request a paper application by calling 14 075.
