Applying for an allowance for own contribution to childcare costs in the Netherlands
Do you have a lower income and do you receive childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag)? Then you can apply for an extra allowance for your own contribution to the costs of childcare. You can apply for this at your municipality.
To be eligible for the extra allowance the following conditions apply:
- you must already be receiving childcare benefit from the Dienst Toeslagen;
- your (joint) income must not exceed the limit. Your municipality sets the maximum amount.

The municipality of Wijk bij Duurstede doesn't offer allowance for own contribution to childcare costs because the Regional Social Service (RSD) performs this for the municipality. The RSD provides a safety net for the residents of the municipalities of De Bilt, Bunnik, Utrechtse Heuvelrug, Wijk bij Duurstede and Zeist, who are temporarily unable to provide for themselves or insufficiently so.
