Applying for an allowance for own contribution to childcare costs in the Netherlands

Do you have a lower income and do you receive childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag)? Then you can apply for an extra allowance for your own contribution to the costs of childcare. You can apply for this at your municipality.

To be eligible for the extra allowance the following conditions apply:

you must already be receiving childcare benefit from the Dienst Toeslagen;
your (joint) income must not exceed the limit. Your municipality sets the maximum amount.

Applying for childcare benefit

You can apply for childcare allowance only if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality. You can apply for childcare allowance online at the Tax and Customs Administration. You need DigiD to do this.
