Applying for an allowance for own contribution to childcare costs in the Netherlands
Do you have a lower income and do you receive childcare benefit (kinderopvangtoeslag)? Then you can apply for an extra allowance for your own contribution to the costs of childcare. You can apply for this at your municipality.
To be eligible for the extra allowance the following conditions apply:
- you must already be receiving childcare benefit from the Dienst Toeslagen;
- your (joint) income must not exceed the limit. Your municipality sets the maximum amount.

Requesting child care assistance
First, the childcare center considers whether the parent is entitled to childcare benefits from the Belastingdienst.
You must meet the following conditions:
- You receive childcare allowance from the Belastingdienst (Tax and Customs Administration).
- You, your partner and your child are registered with the municipality of Deventer.

The municipality will send you a letter within 8 weeks informing you whether you are entitled to the compensation for the personal contribution to childcare allowance. That letter will also state how long you will receive the contribution.
