Applying for a business passport in the Netherlands

Do you hold Dutch citizenship? Do you travel a lot outside the Netherlands on business and get a lot of visas in your passport? If so, you can apply for a zakenpaspoort (business passport). Business passports have more pages and more space for visas.

You apply for a business passport at the municipality where you live. Do you hold Dutch citizenship but have no fixed address in the Netherlands? If so, you can apply for a business passport at a grensgemeente (border municipality). You can do this when visiting the Netherlands.

Applying for a business passport

Please note: you can only apply for a Dutch zakenpaspoort (business passport) if you live in the Netherlands and are registered with a municipality.

  • A good-looking passport photo that
    • is not older than 6 months at the time of application and
    • meets the passport photo requirements.
  • All passports and identity cards that you still have, even if they have expired.
  • If you apply for a second passport, you will bring proof that you need the second passport.
  • If your passport has been lost or stolen abroad, you must take the foreign police report with you.
  • Debit card or money. You pay directly with the application.

You must apply for a business passport in person at the municipality where you live. Make an appointment to apply for a passport.

A business passport costs: € 83,87. 
An urgent application costs: € 57,09 extra.
Delivery to any address in the Netherlands: € 4,95 per document
Passport photo from photo machine € 9,00

You can collect your passport after 6 working days. Make an appointment. If you made an urgent application in the morning, you can pick up your passport the next working day.

If you no longer have your old passport and you do not have another identity card, the municipality will investigate to establish your identity. As a result, it may take longer before you get your passport.
