Applying for a disabled parking space
Do you have a disability and want to park your car close to your home or workplace? If so, you can apply for a parking space for the disabled at your municipality. This is a parking space in which other people with a disability can also park their car.
There are conditions for obtaining a disabled parking space .The municipality will consider, for example:
- whether you have a European Union (EU) parking card for people with disabilities that is valid for at least 6 months;
- the days and times when you wish to use the disabled parking space;
- whether there are already any disabled parking spaces nearby;
- the amount of parking available in the vicinity.
Parking spaces for the disabled are marked by a blue road sign. The sign displays a white P and a white wheelchair symbol. There is also a large white cross on the ground marking the space where your vehicle may be parked. Is there a sign indicating a maximum parking time next to the disabled parking space? If so, you must display a parking disc.
The parking space for people with disabilities is not just for one person. It is not linked to a vehicle registration number. Other people with disabilities can park their vehicles in this space as well. They must, however, also have an EU parking card for people with disabilities.
Do you want to apply for a disabled parking space that is exclusively for your vehicle? If so, apply for a personalised disabled parking space.

Here is some information from your municipality.
Applying for a disabled parking space
A disabled parking space is a parking space for people with disabilities. Other drivers are not allowed to park their car here.
You can request your own disabled parking space at your home or workplace from the municipality. You will then receive a reserved parking space where only the vehicle with your license plate may stand.
- You must have a European disabled parking card (driver card or co-driver card).
- The available parking spaces must be occupied so often that parking in the immediate vicinity of your home or destination is often not possible. The municipality will assess whether this is the case in your situation.
- The municipality ensures that road safety and the efficient use of the road are not disrupted by the construction of a disabled parking space.
Within the area of paid parking, the parking tax - or the residents' parking permit - does not apply to disabled people.
- European disabled parking card.
You can download an application form that you can fill in to the municipality.
