Description

With a disabled parking card (GPK) you can park in disabled parking spaces in all EU countries(link is external), Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland. You must adhere to the local parking rules.

  • The GPK is in the name of a person.
  • The GPK is not registered. You can use the card  for any car.
  • The GPK is valid for a maximum of 5 years.

There are three types of cards:

driver card

  • You cannot walk independently more than 100 meters for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
  • You can drive your own car.

passenger card

  • You cannot walk independently more than 100 meters for at least six months. Not even with aids, such as a cane or crutches.
  • You cannot drive a car yourself. You need constant driver assistance.

You can also request a combination of a driver card and a passenger card. For example, if you are permanently in a wheelchair.

Wheelchair dependent

If you are permanently confined to a wheelchair, you are without a doubt eligible for a GPK (driver card and/or passenger card). In most cases, a medical examination will take place to determine whether you are permanently confined to a wheelchair.
