Applying for a disabled parking space

Do you have a disability and want to park your car close to your home or workplace? If so, you can apply for a parking space for the disabled at your municipality. This is a parking space in which other people with a disability can also park their car.

There are conditions for obtaining a disabled parking space .The municipality will consider, for example:

whether you have a European Union (EU) parking card for people with disabilities that is valid for at least 6 months;
the days and times when you wish to use the disabled parking space;
whether there are already any disabled parking spaces nearby;
the amount of parking available in the vicinity.

The parking space for people with disabilities is not just for one person. It is not linked to a vehicle registration number. Other people with disabilities can park their vehicles in this space as well. They must, however, also have an EU parking card for people with disabilities.

Disabled parking space

Any holder of a European disabled parking card may park in a general disabled parking space. In an individual disabled parking space, only the car with the number plate on the bottom sign is allowed to park.

Conditions for Drivers

You are in possession of a European driver-disabled parking card that is valid for at least another six months.
You do not have parking on site
You own a motor vehicle.
An investigation should show that there is a high parking pressure in a radius of 100 meters from the house.
Reserving an individual disabled parking space may not have any negative consequences for road safety and traffic flow.

Passenger Conditions

You are in possession of a European passenger-disabled parking card that is valid for at least another six months.
You cannot be left alone, even for a short time.
It is not possible to stop the car near the house to allow the passenger to get in and out without endangering traffic or impeding it in an impermissible way.
Reserving an individual disabled parking space may not have any negative consequences for road safety and traffic flow.
