Apply for a driver's license

You apply for a driving license in person at the municipality in which you live. You can collect the driver's license after 5 working days.

Description

With a driver's license you show that you are allowed to drive a motor vehicle. Each vehicle has its own driving license category. Your driver's license states for which categories(link is external) you are allowed to drive vehicles.

A new driver's license is usually valid for 10 years. A category C, C1, D, D1 and/or E driving license is valid for 5 years. Are you older than 65? Then your driver's license is valid for a shorter period. This is because you must have a medical examination from the age of 75. Read more about your driving license from the age of 75 on Rijksoverheid.nl(external link).
