I don’t have the nationality of a country within the European Economic Area. Can I still apply for a DigiD?
If you don’t have Dutch nationality or the nationality of another country within the European Economic Area (EEA), you can apply for a DigiD only if you currently or will soon receive a Dutch General Old Age Pension (AOW). Otherwise you cannot apply for a DigiD. You can manage your affairs another way.
If you receive an AOW
If you currently receive or will soon begin to receive a Dutch state pension, you can apply for a DigiD online via the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). In this case you don’t have to have Dutch nationality or the nationality of another country within the European Economic Area (EEA). However, you must have a citizen service number (BSN).
If you do not receive an AOW
If you do not receive an AOW pension and you’re not a national of an EEA country, you cannot apply for a DigiD. Contact the authority or organisation whose site you want to log in to. They are required to offer an alternative way to help you.
