How much AOW pension will I receive if I live outside the Netherlands?
How much AOW pension you receive if you live outside the Netherlands depends on your situation, for instance on how long you lived and worked in the Netherlands. If you have not always lived and worked in the Netherlands, you will probably not have built up a full AOW pension.
What affects the amount of AOW pension I receive?
- How much AOW pension you built up in the Netherlands
- Which country you live in
- Your domestic situation: do you live alone or with a partner?
- Whether you are married or have a registered partner
- Whether you have to pay health insurance contributions
- Whether you were voluntarily insured under the AOW pension scheme
If there are any changes in your personal situation, you must report them to the SVB.
AOW pension amounts
The maximum amounts of the AOW pension can be found on the SVB’s website. The amounts shown are adjusted every six months and are paid to people who have built up a full AOW pension.
Health insurance contributions
The CAK decides whether you have to pay health insurance contributions. If you do, the SVB will withhold foreign health insurance contributions from your AOW pension.
Your personal situation
You can also see how much AOW pension you have built up on the SVB’s website. Log in to My SVB using your DigiD or another EU-approved login key. In My SVB you can see only the pension rights you have built up with the SVB. You cannot see pension rights you have built up with other pension funds.
If you have worked outside the Netherlands, you will probably have also built up a pension there. Those rights are not shown in Mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl or My SVB.
