Consulate General in Atlanta: Who are we?
Our consulate general is located in the city of Atlanta, situated in the state of Georgia. We represent the Netherlands in the states of Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.
The consulate general in Atlanta aims to strengthen the economic ties between the southeast of the United States and the Netherlands.
Atlanta lies at a distance of about 7,050 kilometers and a 9.5 hour flight from Amsterdam. The city has over 486,000 inhabitants and is the center of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area, the ninth largest urban area in the United States with 5.8 million inhabitants.
The Atlanta Metropolitan Area generates a gross domestic product of over $ 385 billion. The economy of the southeastern states in which the consulate general represents the Netherlands is twice a large as the Dutch economy.
Our team consists of three staff members led by Consul General Ard van der Vorst.
The main task of the consulate general is to promote economic cooperation by supporting Dutch companies in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia.
The most important and most promising sectors in the southeast of the United States for Dutch companies, entrepreneurs and knowledge institutions are: (smart) logistics, life sciences and medtech, fintech and cyber(security), manufacturing (particularly automotive), creative industry, and agriculture and food.
Virtually all Dutch top sectors have a strong or very strong position in one or more of the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.
