Cultural exchange between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom

International exchange between culture makers, creative entrepreneurs and cultural institutions is a source of inspiration and generates new influences and knowledge. The Dutch embassy in London works to promote Dutch art and culture in the UK.

With our extensive network in the local cultural sector and our knowledge of its cultural organisations we can advise on opportunities for cooperation. We inform the Dutch culture sector of interesting developments in the UK and we support British arts organisations that work with Dutch artists and designers. We work closely with the Culture Funds in the Netherlands that have funding available for international cultural exhange. Furthermore, the Embassy has a limited budget to co-fund projects that provide a platform for Dutch arts in the UK or cultural activities that otherwise contribute to the development and/or international exposure of artists and designers from the Netherlands.

"Culture plays a pivotal role in bridging the narrow sea that divides us", says Simon Smits, Dutch Ambassador to the United Kingdom. To celebrate the deep cultural connections between North Sea Neigbours the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, the Dutch Embassy in London in January 2020 published a magazine full of interviews with Dutch artists that work in the UK and British creatives earning their money in the Netherlands. This is a PDF-version of that magazine.
