What is MijnOverheid?
MijnOverheid is your personal website for your dealings with the Dutch authorities. It shows you in one place which information about you is registered with the Dutch authorities and how to report any changes in this information. On MijnOverheid you’ll also find Message Box, a digital mailbox where you can receive messages from the Dutch authorities.
Please note: MijnOverheid is available in Dutch only.
Who is MijnOverheid for?
You automatically have an account on MijnOverheid if you are 14 or older and:
- you live in the Netherlands and have a citizen service number (BSN).
- you are a Dutch national living abroad and have a citizen service number (BSN). You will have one of these if you are registered in the Non-residents Records Database (RNI).
You cannot close your MijnOverheid account.
Using MijnOverheid
Before you can use MijnOverheid, you must activate your account. You will then be able to log in to MijnOverheid.

What information will I find on MijnOverheid?
When you log in to MijnOverheid you’ll find various sections, even if you live abroad:
Personal data
Under ‘Uw gegevens’ (My information) you’ll see how you are registered with the Dutch authorities. This includes information such as your citizen service number (BSN), address, any vehicles registered under your name, diplomas or certificates you have, etc. Here you can also find out how to report a change if necessary.
Message Box
Message Box is your personal digital mailbox where you receive digital mail from the Dutch authorities, for example from the Tax and Customs Administration. It is up to you which organisations you receive digital mail in Message Box from.

Matters pending
Here you can see all matters with the Dutch authorities that are pending or completed. For example, this could include an application for a permit from a municipality in the Netherlands.
Participating organisations
Most Dutch government organisations use MijnOverheid. This includes the Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst), the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW) the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) and the Employee Insurance Agency (UWV). Municipalities and pension funds use MijnOverheid too.
